Insta-Spring

New York, NY

I found myself girlfriend-less, family-less, and religion-less this Easter, which meant I slept in, went to Starbucks, did some work, got bored, and headed into Central Park and Riverside Park.  I've been experimenting with Instagram on my iPhone and thought the spring bloom would be a great chance to put it to the test.  Here are some of the photos I took in the parks and around my neighborhood today.

32 (a.k.a. The Grandé Danish)

New York, NY
In high school, a few friends and I created a ski trick and called it the Grandé Danish.  I don't know how it was actually performed, if I ever performed it, or why exactly we called it "The Grandé Danish."  But looking back on that period of creation and mischief, I realize now that was my peak of being a human.  I apexed with the Grandé Danish and it's been a long slow slide downhill ever since.  My knees hurt.  I yell at the kids playing their infernal racket from those "information pods."  I start most sentences with "when I was your age..." but often forget the point of the sentence halfway through.

Yes, I'm currently tearing through my 30s at a rate not experienced since my 20s.  The good news is, by the time I'm 40, I'll be so senile and dim that I won't realize just how old and broken I really am.  The even better news is that I have great friends to help me get there.  To all who came out for my little soiree, thanks for the drinks, merriment, and frivolity.  Thanks too for the others who took the easy way out and posted on my Facebook wall.  While most of you missed my prolific Grandé Danish period, I appreciate you sticking with me none the less.
