San Francisco Pics

New York, NY

I've just managed to pee out the rest of the red wine I imbibed last week.  And like the last few driblets of that sweet bottled delight, I'm trying to hold onto my memories of a fantastic week out west.  To help, here are some photos.

Is that a giant agave or are you just happy to see me? (Hint: it's a giant agave)

 Yes, it was crazy-ass windy.

The one and only winery I wanted to go/return to.

You know you've made it when you have a private winery in your backyard.  At this point, I haven't made it seeing as I don't even have a backyard.

Yes, that's MC Hammer.  Yes, he played all three of his hits.  Yes, it was awesome.

 Our house in Sonoma.

 Lindsey likes wood.

Go West, Young Man!

San Francisco, CA

I'm sitting at my gate with a full hour before my (red-eye) flight boards and whisks me back to New York.  And because SFO offers free WiFi (for 45 minutes) and my only other option is to listen to the 3 year-old with questionable parents behind me cry incessantly, I figured I'd write.

I've always said, if New York City were no longer an option, I'd move to San Francisco.  Each trip out here has been amazingly pleasant, and it's the only other American city I've really felt at home in.  The difference with this trip is that I'm coming to terms with actually living here.

While I'll spare you the details, there's a very good possibility that, in the new year, I may be moving out West.  (Another post on this will surely come as that possibility becomes more of a reality)  So instead of looking at the city through the lens of a tourist, I attempted to live as if this town were my home.

You begin studying neighborhoods, "Could I live here?" or "Is this similar to the Upper West Side?"  You think about where you'll find a new dentist, where you'll park your car, how you'll spend your Christmases.  And despite the chill of the fog that crept in from the Pacific, living in this town seemed to become more clear.  I could see myself here, perhaps now more than ever.  And that's a scary but exciting thought.

I mean, fuck it, they have In-N-Out Burger.
