Sledding in Centre Island

New York, NY

A few weeks ago, Lindsey, Katy, Patrick and I went out to Centre Island for a weekend away. (And a trip to Trader Joe's). We managed to get in some sledding before the weekend was over. This was the result.

Some Random Thoughts

New York, NY

I've been stocking this blog full of photos to make up for the fact that I don't have time to actually write a blog. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to share some random thoughts. Tidbits that are too long for my Twitter feed, but wouldn't exactly work on YesButNoButYes. So here it goes.

The Valpak - I think I'd rather receive nothing in the mail than the damn Valpak. Currently, I've never once opened one. They're contributing to the destruction of the rain forest. What's worse, they're contributing the destruction of my sanity.

The Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony - Just like Canada, it was very beautiful and very boring. Granted, Canada doesn't enslave their citizens and force them from a young age to practice drumming techniques, but I could have done with something a bit ... more. It's sad when the most exciting moment of the night is the pre-roll video.

Olympic Figure Skating - I understand that the American public craves some people in sequined outfits dancing, but couldn't we show these events during the day and not during prime time? At no other point in four years can someone watch Luge on television. But you can see Figure Skating in the Summer. The damn Summer! Also, figure skating sucks ass. And any event that you win via judging isn't a sport. It's an exhibition.

Snow - I love snow. It makes me happy. I get giddy on the first snowfall of each season. But seriously, I've had enough this year. We're done.

McDonald's - I had my first McDonald's experience in many, many years this past weekend. (I had two apple pies and a vanilla shake) Nothing has changed. It's still horrible. It seriously takes advantage of low-income families that plies them with cheap prices, but extremely poor quality food. I grabbed the nutritional facts out of curiosity and noticed that a standard meal has as much calories as a weight-gainer shake.

Chipotle - Yes, they are (or were) owned by McDonald's. But their food is fucking fantastic.

"Totes Magoats" - This phrase wasn't funny or cute a year ago, and it reached its vernacular apex about four months ago. Please stop using it, especially if you're over the age of 12.

Blizzard Photos

New York, NY

As should now be expected when snow is falling, Lindsey and I went out around the Upper West Side and, particularly, Central Park to take some photos of the city in the snow. Here are some of the results.
